The World According To Jared

We love Jared. He is getting big. I can't believe he is 8 1/2 already. Sometimes he comes up with the funniest things. Yesterday he was on a roll. Here is the story of my two favorites yesterday.

Story #1--I asked Jared to clean his room after basketball practice. He cleaned his room and told me he was done. I asked him "Is your bed made?" He said "my bed doesn't need to be made." I told him "To have a clean room, yes it does" to which with his little eight year old attitude said while walking out of the room "Mom why do you have to teach me to clean so good." This put a smile on my face.
Story # 2 I was putting Caleb to bed. Jared was suppose to be in bed. He comes down stairs to Darrin. Darrin tell him he is suppose to be in bed. He says to Darrin "I found a bug in my room." Darrin says "Squish it will a paper towel and put it in the garbage." To which he tells Darrin "I can't kill it. It is an American too. I have to let it go outside." Aren't kids the best!

The Case of the Missing Tooth!

We had big things happened this week in the Buttle Home. Drew lost his first tooth. He is so proud and excited. It has been loose for several weeks and Sunday choose to come out. He was eating lunch when it just came out. It thought it was awesome.

When the tooth fairy first started coming to our home, she would leave a couple of golden dollars. She thought the boys would love it. They weren't as amazed as their parents were. The tooth fairy decided to switch to a hand full of change. The boys were so excited over this. Although, when the boys counted out Drew's money, he will proudly tell you he got $4.08. How knew a hand full nickels, dimes, pennies and quarters could add up.

One other thing about Drew. Ever since Jared got his suit jacket for Sunday, Drew has been wanting one. He asks all the time. On Monday, we decided to go look at the DI(that is were he thinks they come from because we found Jared's there.) We went there and we found one. It was too big. Then we found another. If fits him perfect, but only for maybe two month. I told him we could get it because it was only $3. He comes up with the funniest things to say. He says: "I must be dreaming. This must be a good dream." "I get a jacket. YES YES. We then decide to go look at the toys. I found a stuffed Mario from Mario brothers.(Drew loves Mario brothers, he sometimes plays them.) Since it was 75 cents and I owed him 75 cents I told him he could have it. He says: "Am I in heaven?" Who knew that it only took $3.75 to make my little boy so happy. He was so happy, he took both of them to show and tell yesterday. I love my boys.

Crazy Nights(At least for Us!)

This picture has nothing to do with my story, but my boys are so cute anytime I have a chance to show them off I take it. Last night we had a strange thing happen. Jared and I were doing his homework when the lights went out. They were out for about 5 seconds and flashed back on. So we were doing homework again, but I kept thinking it seems dimmer in here. Darrin came down and said Jenny look at this. He turned on the lights to our entry way and they were candle light dim. It was weird because the TV room and kitchen lights were just fine(We have the energy saving light bulbs so that's why they were so bright). Also, certain things weren't working like the microwave. You could use the timer, but not cook something. So we went outside and all the neighbors were coming out asking each other if their lights were dim too. It was kind of strange, then about 20 minutes into the "Brown Out" It turned into a black out. So we had no power for about 1 hour total. The boys loved it because they were supose to be in bed but they got to come out and run around with flashlights and friends. So we just chated with our friends till the lights came on. We still don't know what happend. We have never experienced a half power outage have any of you? Anyway, I guess it was something to brighten our day.

Blues Clues!

Caleb has decided that he LOVES Blues Clues. He calls it BE BE. Some times he will watch Mickey Mouse Club house(Known to him as Mow Mow Mow). But Blues Clues is the one show he will watch over and over again. If he wants to watch it he will say: "I watch BE BE" over and over again until you turn it on for him. Here is a few shots of him enjoying his favorite show.

Relaxing on the couch.

He likes to watch it from every view. We have had to move the TV.

St. George Snow Day!

So living up in Northern Utah I am use to a lot of snow. Down here in sunny St. George we get an average of one snow fall a year. It will stick for a few hours and be on its way. Last year we were amazed because it snowed and the 1/2 inch stayed for like three days. This year has been crazy. We have had at least three good snow storms were the snow has stuck for a couple days. The last one being a big on for us. It was on the Wednesday before Christmas, I was bringing Jared home from Karate because it was snowing pretty well. On the one minute trip home Jared was saying I hope it snow enough that we don't have to go to school in tomorrow. I told him he will have school because were I am from you have to have like 24 inches of snow before they cancel school. Next morning we wake up to 4 inches of snow and NO School. I guess the school buses are not made for snow here. So we played in the snow for hours. It was tons of fun. In the month of December St. George will average .1 inches of snow. This winter we had 8 inches which made of snow pack 8000% above normal. Crazy!

Drew sliding down the neighbors driveway. They had a steep long driveway.

Caleb had a ball.

Drew going down the driveway on a skateboard with no wheel. This was the boys favorite thing.

Neighbor fun!

Jared with the skateboard. He was the best and wants to know when we will take him snowboarding.
