Jared, King of the Bullies!

Last week Jared performed in an Opera. It was awesome. At his school, the third graders were able to write their own opera. There is a group that helps children write and perform it all. They have been working on it all year. They painted all the scenes. The class cam up with the idea, wrote the songs and told the people what they thought it should sound like. The group wrote music and the kids learned it all. I am amazed at the talent of a bunch of third graders.

Jared's opera was about a class that was looking forward the the party they were going to have after being in school for 100 days. There was a new girl in school and the kids were being bullies to her. Some kids told them to be nice. Then they decided to be nice to her because they didn't want to lose their party were they would get 300 pizzas. So fun to here what 8-9 year old come up with.

They did a great job. Jared was a bully. He had fun with this role because it is the total opposite of him.
After the opera for all of the kids who memorized their time tables they were crowned kings or queens in the land of multiplication.

Here is King Jared.

Hoppy Easter(Late)

Thought I would share a couple of my Easter photos. Sorry that they are a little late, but it has been crazy around here lately. The day after Easter, we had Darrin's brother Kirk, his wife Kelly, Kelly Mom, our niece Kara, our nephews Kyle and Casey and Kara's good friend Ryan stay with us for a couple days. It was so fun to have them here and hope they all come back really soon. They went hiking during the day and we got to spend the evenings talking. So much fun. I love family. Easter here was fun. They Easter bunny brought us a lot less candy this year and more small gifts. We loved it and will ask the Easter bunny to do the same thing next year. The boys loved it.

Here is what Drew looked like when he came home from school on Good Friday. They have too much fun in Kindergarten.

Jared, Caleb and Drew looking so handsome on Easter morning. Caleb loved the Easter basket. He put everything in it.

Handsome Drew. We love him tons.

Jared the good big brother. He is always trying to help.

Caleb and his basket he played with all day. He is the one that loved the candy the most.

Singing In The Sun

I was a little surprised when Jared came to me and told me he wanted to be in the school choir. You see, I am in primary with him and he doesn't like to sing much. I told he if he did it he had to stick with it the whole year. NO quiting. He wanted to do it so we did. He goes to school twice a week at 7:30am for practice and loves it. They performed 5-6 times at Christmas and will have performed 4 times this spring. For one of their performances, many schools get together and do a concert. It is very fun. They have a theme. This year the '50s. They learn a few songs to sing as a big group(about 1000) and then they sang a song with just our school choir(102 kids). They got to perform this at the Tuachan stage. For those who don't know about Tuachan. It is a beautiful outdoor theater in the mountains of Southern Utah were they do a few plays each year.

Here is Jared(sitting on the risers on the bottom) waiting for his choir to come. It was a very good concert. His choir sang "Witch Doctor" from Alvin and the Chipmunks. Done so good.

This is all the schools together. About 1000 kids. Together they sang Johny Be Good and a couple others I can't remember(but I will after I post this.) I am glad there are people who care for our kids to teach them to love music. THANKS

Family Prayers

Tonight at family prayers it was Drew, my five year old who gave the prayer. Usually he just says the same thing each time but tonight he add a couple extra. His prayer went something like this:

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this day,
Thank you for our family,
Thank you for our friends,
Bless us when we grow up, we will still be happy.
Help us to sleep.
Bless us to always have clean teeth.

So, cute. I love the things kids can come up with in their prayers. When Jared was younger, every night he would bless the kids in the orphanages.(We watched Annie) I love the things kids have in their hearts and prayers.

Here are a couple pictures of my cute boys.

Drew loves to do tricks on his scooter.

Caleb likes putting on any glasses because Mom wear glasses. It is kind of cute.

Jared loves to be goofy and will do anything to make you laugh.

I can't believe my baby is two years old.

Down and Derby

We survived our first Pine Wood Derby. It was a ball. It was so fun to see what all boys were able to do with a block of wood. Jared had a good time working with Darrin on it. They found this cool wrap for the car so they didn't have to paint it. It looked awesome.

As you can tell Drew has very excited for the race. He wore this outfit for three days. They even had Drew "the Speedster" come to the microphone to give all the racers advice. Drew being the shy child he is just said "Yes" when they asked him if he had any advice for the racers. So cute.

Caleb loved watching the races.

He kept getting too close and he had to pull him back.

Jared and the other scouts watching the race.

Jared waiting for the race to start. His car was the American flag one. The car on the far right was a Popsicle. They even put a stick on it. It was very creative.

Jared had fun. He didn't have the fastest car, but did come in second once. It is nice to have your first pine wood derby done. You can learn new tricks every year. We are already excited for next year.
